New COO/GM Joseph Marini

Dear Fellow Members,

As previously communicated, we have been working very hard conducting a thorough search process to identify the next leader of Red Run Golf Club. We are excited to introduce you to Joseph Marini, who will be our next Chief Operating Officer/General Manager.

Originally from East Detroit, Joe is respected as one of the finest club leaders in the industry. During his twenty year tenure at Meadowbrook Country Club, Joe directed the substantial investment and renovations to the entire clubhouse and grounds. Most recently, he was integral in the aggressive restoration of the club’s original Willie Park Jr. golf course. The exciting transformation of the entire club and course has resulted in a waiting list of future members. Joe has played a vital role in their premier profile that has benefited the surrounding communities and the club itself.

Joe is a member of the Club Managers Association of America and the Professional Club Marketing Association. Prior to his arrival at Meadowbrook in 1998, he was the general manager at Tecumseh Country Club and the clubhouse manager at Walnut Creek Country Club. While studying at Michigan State University, Joe interned and went on to the management training program at the Westin Hotel Detroit where he honed his hospitality skills and business acumen for over nine years. Joe’s true passion is hospitality and he is a dedicated professional who truly loves serving his membership.

Joe and his wife, Janelle, will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary this fall. While building his career, Joe and Janelle have also built a beautiful family, including two wonderful daughters, Lauren (21) and Jadyn (17). During high school, Lauren enjoyed her participation on the cheer and dance teams. She will enter the Dental Hygiene Program at Oakland Community College this fall. Jadyn is a junior at South Lyon High School and plays on the softball and golf teams. The Marini family also enjoys the company of their dog, Butterscotch.
Joe has described Red Run as one of his favorite clubs in the district. “I love the charm of the clubhouse and the immaculate Willie Park course”, said Marini. Willie Park is a designer that Joe has studied in depth and come to appreciate. In summary, Joe describes his future at Red Run as an opportunity to blend his vision with our culture to ignite our brand potential and elevate our status as a highly desirable destination for both members and guests.

Joe will be wrapping up his work at Meadowbrook Country Club over the next couple of months and looks forward to starting at Red Run as soon as possible. We will let our entire membership know when Joe is set to officially join us.

We would like to thank Jack Van Tiem and Ann Zainea for their dedication to lead this search process. Thanks to their efforts, we were fortunate to interview many wonderful candidates from across the country. I would also like to thank the entire Board of Directors for their tireless commitment to the Club during this process. Just as important, we would like to thank Wally Sierakowski and the entire staff for their hard work and leadership over the last several months. Lastly, we would like to thank each and every one of our members and staff for their patience during this time. The future is bright here at Red Run and we look forward to a fantastic 2018.
